South Africa won the Test series 2-1 against India. They beat India by seven wickets in the Cape Town Test. South Africa resumed the innings at 101 for two in 63.3 overs.
Keegan Peterson (82), Razi van der Dusen (41 not out) and Temba Bauma (32 not out) were South Africa’s winners. India could only manage one wicket today. Peterson was dismissed by Shardul Thakur. India won the first Test by 113 runs at Centurion, while the hosts returned with a seven – wicket victory in Johannesburg. It was India’s best chance to win their maiden series in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Indian Test captain Virat Kohli said the team had failed to capitalize on the crucial stages of progress. Kohli said South Africa had chased well in the last two Tests, explaining the reasons behind the series defeat. “Our bowling power is different from theirs. They grew up on these pitches. They know in which areas to throw the ball. They did it consistently. We tried to focus on our strengths, but somehow it did not happen here, ”Kohli added.
The skipper praised wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant for his unbeaten century in the third Test. “Mistakes happen, but he learned from them. He is a special genius and it was a special innings, ”said Kohli. Asked if some senior players would be dropped from the squad for their poor performance, Kohli said: “We can’t say right now if there will be any changes in the team or what kind of changes will happen, but we need to think about it,” he said.
