New Delhi: America, the country with the largest economy in the world, imports the most shrimps from India. But in the year 2019, it banned the import of wild caught shrimps from the sea. It said that due to fishing methods in India, sea turtles accidentally get trapped in the net and get injured. This move of America has caused a setback of 500 million dollars i.e. about Rs 4,197 crore to India in the last five years. This claim has been made in a report. According to this, India is making changes in fishing methods according to the needs of America. For this, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of America has approved a design. According to the report, Turtle Excluder Device (TED) will be fitted on the fishing boat. This will prevent sea turtles from getting trapped in the net. Now the use of this device will be promoted across the country. For this, many people have been prepared who will train fishermen across the country. The report says that there is a need to create a regulatory program for the protection of whales, dolphins and other marine life in the country. If this is not done, then America can also ban the import of all products caught from the sea in the future.
