India Promotes Small Grains in ASEAN Countries with Food Festival

Jakarta: India has organized a food festival in Indonesia with the aim of creating awareness about small grains among the people of ASEAN countries. The festival, which will last for 5 days, is being organized by the Embassy of India in ASEAN and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The Association of ASEAN consists of 10 countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia. India’s ambassador to ASEAN, Jayant Kobragade, stated that the festival is aimed at creating markets for small grains products in these countries and promoting small grains as a better food choice for the people.

The initiative comes after a joint statement on food security was adopted during the ASEAN-India conference on September 7, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. “In this situation, we have conducted the small grain festival within two months. The role of small grains in ensuring food security is becoming increasingly important,” said Kobragade.

The festival is part of India’s efforts to promote small grains and improve food security in the ASEAN region. Through this initiative, India aims to create awareness and increase the consumption of small grains among the people of ASEAN countries.
