Kochi: MLA PV Anwar was angry with the media over the response to the ED being called for questioning. Anwar was summoned by the ED on a complaint that he had extorted Rs 50 lakh by promising to share in a quarry in Belthangadi, Karnataka.

The response to the media who sought a response in this regard was, “We have been called to discuss the India-Pakistan football game, and it is not convenient to say.”

Salim, a non-resident engineer from Malappuram, filed the complaint. The ED was summoned to the office in Kochi and questioned. The case is that in 2012, he was cheated by buying 50 lakh rupees by believing that he would give 10 percent shareholding in the quarry in Belthangadi.

Initially, there was no significant progress in the case which was investigated by the police and the crime branch. The court rejected the report submitted by the crime branch saying that it was a civil case. Then Salim filed a complaint with ED.
