Lima: Divanshi produced her best performance in the final to win the gold medal in the 25m sports pistol event of the World Junior Shooting Championships in Lima, Peru. Divanshi scored 35 points in the final and defeated Christina Magnani of Italy by two points. He had qualified for the finals in fifth position with 577 points. France’s Heloise Faure won the bronze medal with 30 points. Along with Tejaswani and Vibhuti Bhatia, Divanshi also won the gold medal in the 25m team pistol event. Czech Republic (1696-38x) won the silver medal and Germany (1696-31x) took the bronze medal. Divanshi, who finished fifth in the qualifiers, was the only Indian shooter to reach the final of her event. Tejaswini finished 13th, Bhatia 22nd and Namya Kapoor (552) finished 40th in the qualifiers.
In fact, the 25-metre sports pistol event contributed two more gold medals. Because Mukesh Nelavalli won the junior men’s individual gold and won the team gold along with Suraj Sharma and Padyuman Singh. Nelavalli, Suraj and Praduman Singh (561) combined score of 1729 took India to the top in the team category, ahead of Poland (1726) and Italy (1712).
In the 50m rifle 3-position event, Shaurya Saini finished seventh in the final. But he won the team gold medal with Vedant Waghmare and Parikshit Singh Brar.
