Power Outages Plague Shaheed Vir Narayan Stadium Just Hours Before India-Australia Fourth T20I

With just hours to go for the India-Australia fourth T20I, power outages at the Shaheed Vir Narayan Stadium in Raipur are plaguing the organizers. The connection to the stadium has been disconnected due to outstanding electricity bills.

The national media reported that the stadium’s electricity bill had not been paid since 2009, with 3.16 crores outstanding. A temporary connection has now been made following the request of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association. However, it is only available in the gallery and media boxes. It has been decided to run the floodlights with a generator.

Ashok Khandelwal, in-charge of Raipur Rural Circle, informed that the Secretary of the Cricket Association has submitted an application to increase the capacity of the temporary connection of the stadium. The current capacity is 200 KV, and the application was made for 1000 KV. The information received is that the application has been accepted, but the work has not started yet. Chhattisgarh Sports Department and Public Works Department are blaming each other over the electricity bill.

India can win the series if they win the Raipur match. The hosts are leading 2-1, having won the first two matches and lost the third. The Indian youth team is relieved that Glenn Maxwell is not playing in the Australian lineup. The batting form of young players is a consolation for India.

Rituraj Gaekwad is coming into the fourth match after scoring 123 runs off 57 balls in the last game. Captain Suryakumar Yadav will be relieved that Yashaswi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, Rinku Singh, and Tilak Verma are also in form. If the Aussies win, the final match in Bengaluru will be decisive.
