Mumbai: The Indian squad for the Test series against Bangladesh has been announced. KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Captain Rohit Sharma was out due to a thumb injury in the second ODI. With this, the player lost the third ODI and Test series. Cheteshwar Pujara is the vice captain.
BCCI announced the Indian team today with four changes. Abhimanyu Eshwar replaced Rohit Sharma in the squad. Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar have been included in the team in place of Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja who are still injured. Saurashtra player Jaydev Unadkhat has also been included in the team. It was his brilliant performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy that earned him a place in the team. Rishabh Pant and KS Bharat are the wicket keepers in the team.
India will play a two-Test series against Bangladesh. The first test is on December 14. The second Test will be held on December 22. India need to win the Test series to overcome the ODI series loss. If India wins the Test series against Bangladesh, it will pave the way for India to reach the final of the World Test Championship. India have a four-match Test series against Australia in February before the World Test Championship.

Meanwhile, 31-year-old Jayadev has a rare record of being included in the playing XI for either of the two Tests
Unadkhat is waiting. Unadkhat is also the longest-serving Indian cricketer between two Tests. The player last wore the Indian jersey in a Test against South Africa in 2010. Since then, Unadkhat has played seven ODIs and ten T20Is for India, but was never considered for a Test.
