Napier : India abandoned the third T20 match of the New Zealand Twenty20 series due to rain. Chasing the target of 161 runs set by New Zealand, India was on the verge of collapsing at 75 for the loss of four wickets when rain came to the rescue. India won the three-match series 0-1 after the third T20 was abandoned due to rain. Only the second match of the series at Bay Oval was completely played.

The first match was completely avoided. India won the second match on the strength of Suryakumar Yadav’s century innings. Then today’s match was also abandoned due to rain and Hardik Pandya won the second series of his captaincy career. And India has won ten series in a row

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. Pacer Tim Southee replaced captain Kane Williamson and led the hosts in the last over. But in India’s pace attack, the tail end of the Kiwis was going. Pacers Arshdeep Singh and Mohammad Siraj took four wickets each. Harshal Patel took another wicket. Opener Devon Conaway and Glenn Phillips scored half-centuries as the Kiwis set a target of 161 runs against India.

In reply, India started batting with collapse. Skipper Hardik Pandya led India to a better score after losing three wickets in the 21st over. And with Suryakumar Yadav also out, India was under pressure. Then the rain came to the rescue. Rishabh Pant again disappointed with his batting performance.

The ODI series against New Zealand will begin on November 25. Shikhar Dhawan is leading the three-match series. Sanju Samson has been included in the Indian squad.
