Kanpur: Pakistan is to host the Champions Trophy between February 19 and March 9 next year. There is still a question mark over India’s presence in this championship to be held in ODI format. Meanwhile, Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Rajiv Shukla said that the final decision regarding the tour of Pakistan has to be taken by the Indian government. Shukla told reporters on the sidelines of the fourth day of the second Test match against Bangladesh, ‘Right now. No decision has been taken till now. Our policy is that we always seek government permission for international tours. This government decides whether our team should tour any country or not. In this matter also, whatever decision the government takes, we will follow it.
The Indian team has not played a bilateral series against Pakistan since the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Both the teams face each other only in ICC and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournaments. The Pakistan team visited India last year for the ICC ODI World Cup after a gap of seven years.
