India will sweep the series, surprise if Aussies win at least one match; New Zealand star with prediction

Former New Zealand player Simon Dowle says that India will sweep the series against Australia. In an interview to SportsYari, he said that if Australia win at least one game in the four-match series, it would be a miracle and most likely India will go 4-0 up.

“I would be surprised if Australia win at least one game. If there is no rain, India will sweep the series 4-0. Sometimes Australia will win a game if they bowl well and Smith and Labuschand play well. Even then I don’t see anything beyond 3-1 or 4-0.

A lot of people have written and seen about the pitch in India. They are looking to build followers. Don’t tell me the pitch in Australia was not in their favour. I don’t mind changing the pitch. It doesn’t matter if it stays like that for two days. There are no more spinners like Lara, Dravid, Tendulkar and Laxman.

Even the current Indian players are not playing like the previous players. They are playing better than other teams. That’s why they can win games at home. But I will never blame the pitch, whatever the nature of the pitch, whether it’s brown or not,” said Dowle.

Meanwhile, the Aussies are trailing 1-0 in the four-match series with the defeat in the first Test. In Australia’s first innings, the Indian bowlers attacked the kangaroos. The Aussies were all out for 177 runs. Batting in reply, India overcame the first innings score raised by the opponents and scored 400 runs.

In the second innings, the Aussies were bowled out for 91 runs after falling short by 223 runs. Ashwin took five wickets while Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each. Aksar also returned the remaining player and India celebrated victory by an innings and 132 runs. The second match of the India-Australia series will be played on February 17. Delhi is the venue.
