Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has retired

Bengaluru: Robin Uthappa, an Indian cricketer who is half Malayali, has retired from cricket. Uthappa clarified that he will not play in international and domestic matches. Uthappa added that he is interested in playing in foreign cricket leagues.

A member of the Indian team that won the Twenty20 World Cup in 2007, Uthappa also played in the Indian team that won the Under-19 World Cup in 2004. He has played in the IPL twice with Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. Uthappa managed to win the title.

Uthappa made his debut for India on 15 April 2006. He wore the Indian shirt for the first time in ODIs. In the match held at Indore, the opponents were England. He also made his debut in Twenty20 in 2007. The last international match was played on 14 July 2015.

Uthappa played 46 ODIs for India and scored 934 runs. 86 is the highest score. Scored six fifties. Uthappa has scored 249 runs in 13 Twenty20 matches for India. The highest score is 50 runs. 142 First Class matches and 203 List A matches in IPL. The player also batted in 291 Twenty20 matches.

Uthappa has played mostly for Karnataka in domestic cricket. Uthappa made his domestic debut for Karnataka in the 2002-2003 season and has played for Kerala and Saurashtra. The player last played domestic cricket for Kerala. Uthappa last played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL.

Uthappa, who played 15 seasons in the IPL, was a part of Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Pune Warriors, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals. Uthappa has scored 4952 runs at a strike rate of 130.35 from 205 IPL matches.
