KUALA LUMPUR: A Jayamakale Satwiksairaj-Chirag Shetty partnership to the Malaysian Open Super 1000 Badminton title. In the semi-finals, the Indian team entered the final by defeating Korea’s world champions Seo Seung Jae and Kang Min Hyukdish in straight games.
The Asian Games champions and world number two Indian pair defeated the Korean duo by 21-18, 22-20. After initially trailing in the second game, the Indian players were making a comeback.
With the win, the Satwik-Chirag alliance is aiming for a second Super 1000 title. In June last year, he won the title at the Indonesian Open. They entered the final by defeating the same Korean team that day as well. Last year, the career of Satwik and Chirag was rich with Asian Games gold, Asian Championship, Indonesian Super 1000, Korea Super 500 and Swiss Open Super 300 titles.
