New Delhi: Indian men’s hockey team coach Graham Reid has resigned following his team’s poor performance in the Hockey World Cup. Graham Reid, who led India to a bronze medal in the last Olympics, could not lift the team to that level in the World Cup. After the Hockey World Cup final on Sunday, Australian Graham Reid handed over his resignation letter to Hockey Federation of India President Dilip Turki. The 58-year-old Reid will take over the coaching duties of the Indian team in April 2019. India’s 2022 Commonwealth League silver medal and third place finish in the Hockey Pro League came under Reid’s tutelage. The team’s analytical coach Greg Clark and scientific advisor Mitchell David Pemberton have resigned.

The hosts, who finished second in the pool stage at the Hockey World Cup in India, lost to New Zealand in the crossover match for the quarter-qualifiers. India finished ninth in the tournament. This is a poor performance by a home team in the Men’s Hockey World Cup.
