Indian kickboxer dies

New Delhi: Indian athlete Yora Tate, 24, died due to a head injury sustained in the national kickboxing competition held in Chennai. A doctor pronounced him dead yesterday.

Yora fainted after being kicked on the head by Kesav Mudal in the final last Sunday.

Yora was given first aid immediately. He was rushed to hospital for emergency brain surgery.

But he died two days later without treatment.

Yora, a martial artist from Arunachal Pradesh, had qualified for the finals of the World Association of ‘Kickboxing’ Organizations.

Police are investigating his death. The authorities arranged for his body to be sent to his hometown.
