MADRID, 28 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

ISRO, the Indian space agency, has released images from the navigation camera of its lunar rover, Pragyan, during a tour near its location near the south pole of the Moon.

In a comment on its account on the X social network, ISRO explains that the rover, part of the Chandrayaan 3 mission, he encountered an obstacle in his route and had to change his route.

“On August 27, 2023, the rover encountered a 4-meter-diameter crater located 3 meters ahead of its location.

The Rover was ordered to get back on track. Now steers safely on a new path” explains ISRO.

One image shows the crater itself in front of the rover and the other the tracks of the rover. after taking a new route for his investigation.

The six-wheeled vehicle weighing 26 kilos it uses its navigation cameras to survey the area — where no spacecraft has ever landed before — and transmit images back to earth, and then ISRO sends instructions to the rover, which can travel up to 500 meters from the lander, called the Vikram.

Regarding payloadsrelies on an Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS) and a Laser Induced Decay Spectroscope (LIBS) to derive the elemental composition in the vicinity of the landing site.

Pragyan is expected to work during a lunar day14 Earth days, before it ends up frozen when the sun stops giving heat to the area.
