KUALA LUMPO: The Indian women’s squash team won its first two matches and the women’s first match at the Asian Squash Championships in Malaysia.

India beat Iraq 3-0 in the first round of the Ottawa Division. Ramit Tandon defeated Rasool Hashim Al Sultani (21 minutes) 11-9, 11-8, 11-3. Mahesh Manganko defeated Abdullah Hashim Al Sultani (18 minutes) 11-4, 11-2, 11-2. Tamil Nadu’s Velavan Senthilkumar defeated Hasnan Obeid Dakil (7 minutes) 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 in the semifinals.

India then beat the Philippines 3-0 in the second match. Sourav Koshal defeated Robert Andrew Gossia (20 minutes) 11-8, 11-8, 11-4. Mahesh Manganko defeated David William Bellino (16 min) 11-1, 11-6, 11-6. Velavan Senthilkumar defeated Raymok Peconia (19 min) 11-5, 11-7, 11-2.

The women’s team defeated the Philippines 3-0. Joshna Chinnappa defeated Jemica Aripado (16 min) 13-11, 11-8, 11-4. Sanyana Kuruvilla defeated Jon Alyssa Dalita (12 min) 11-4, 11-2, 11-2. Owaisi Joshi defeated Lisette Reyes (7 minutes) 11-2, 11-3, 11-2.
