An official statement said the US President personally signed the letter of appreciation, jointly issued by the Office of the President and AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps is a branch of the US government. The group wants to promote activities that “serve communities” by bringing Americans closer together.
Dr. Vivek Lal is an industrialist and works as the Chief Executive of General Atomics. General Atomics is a global leader in the specialized fields of nuclear energy technology. It has developed sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) such as the Predator, Reaper and Guardian drones. Notably, Vivek Lal, the son of an Indian diplomat, was one of the few people of Indian origin invited to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Prime Minister’s visit to Washington last year.
Prior to his role as CEO at General Atomics, Dr. Lal worked at leading companies such as NASA, Raytheon, Boeing and Lockheed Martin. He is working with the Pentagon as a member of the US Technical Committee in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Science and Technology Department. He was appointed in 2018 to the US Cabinet Secretary’s Critical Advisory Board, which oversees the Department of Transportation, which includes agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from Wichita State University, Kansas. Vivek Lal held significant positions at Boeing and Reliance in addition to his time at Lockheed Martin before joining General Atomics. It is noteworthy that he served as the CEO of Reliance Industries Limited and as the Chairman of Reliance New Ventures.
