New Delhi: Manisha Kalyan has become the first Indian player to play in the European Women’s Champions League (UEFA).

Manisha Kalyan is from Haryana. She played for Apollon Ladies FC, a Cypriot football club that plays in the UEFA Women’s Football Championship.

Apollon Ladies FC and SFK Riga clashed in a league match held in Ngomi yesterday. In this match, Manisha was fielded as a substitute for Cypriot player Marilena Georgiou in the 60th minute.

Apollon beat Riga 3-0 in that match. With this, Manisha has become the first Indian player to play in the UEFA competition.

20-year-old Manisha becomes the 4th Indian player to be signed to play for a foreign club.

Manisha has played for the national team and for the Gokulam Kerala team in the Indian Women’s League. Notably, recently, she received the Indian Football Federation’s Player of the Year award for the 2021-22 season.
