The first match of the 15th edition of the IPL will be between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK beat Kolkata by 27 runs to win the 2021 edition final. According to the latest format of the IPL, KKRA is in Group A and CSKB is in Group B. In the group stage, there will be only one match between the two.
This year the tournament will be held at various stadiums in Maharashtra. The government has promised to provide special facilities for the matches. The government will provide facilities, including transportation from the stadium to another venue. The competitions will be held in compliance with the Kovid 19 criteria. Fans will also be admitted to the stadium.
The tournament will be played in two groups of five teams each. Teams were selected for each group based on ranking. In Group A, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are in Group B.

Each team will have 14 matches in the preliminary round. Earlier there were eight teams but there were 14 matches. The teams in the group will face each other twice. You can also play twice with the same team on the opposing team. The new format is such that you face each other on the opposing team each time. The position in the playoffs will not be on a group basis. The top four teams in terms of points will advance to the playoffs.
