Toronto: An Indian student has been shot dead near a subway station in Canada. The perpetrator has not been identified. The deceased has been identified as Karthik Vasudev, 21, of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. He was a first semester student in Marketing Management at Senaka College. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a Sherban station in St. James’ Town on his way to a part-time restaurant. The information is that there was more than one shot. Toronto police said he was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but could not be rescued.

Karthik, who arrived in Canada in January, got a part-time job at a Mexican restaurant two weeks ago. External Affairs Minister S Jayashankar expressed grief over the incident. Police said they were checking information from eyewitnesses and CCTV. The suspect is of African American descent.
