Chennai: The Indian cricket team emerged victorious in a league match against Australia in the ongoing Cricket World Cup today. Chasing a target of 200 runs, the Indian team claimed a comfortable six-wicket win at Chepakkam Stadium in Chennai.
The match began with Australian team captain Pat Cummins winning the toss and electing to bat. India made a change in their playing eleven, replacing the unfit Subman with spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Along with Ashwin, the team featured three other spinners, namely Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Mitchell Starc played a crucial knock of 28 runs as Australia were bowled out for 199 in 49.3 overs. Jadeja was the most effective bowler for India, taking three wickets.
In their chase, the Indian team got off to a shaky start, losing Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer without scoring any runs. However, K.L. Rahul’s unbeaten 97 and captain Virat Kohli’s composed 85-run partnership turned the game in India’s favor. The duo steered the team to a comfortable victory, with India scoring 201 runs for the loss of just four wickets in 41.2 overs.
