Group A includes New Zealand, England, Ireland, Australia, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. New Zealand team has won 2 out of 3 matches in this division. One match was canceled due to rain. Thus, it is at the top with 5 points. England, Ireland and Australia are next with 3 points each. Thus, it is not yet certain which teams will advance to the semi-finals in this division.
New Zealand’s semi-final chances are slightly higher than other teams. However, there is a tough competition between England, Australia and Ireland who have 3 points each. Only after the completion of each of the remaining two matches will it be known who will advance to the semi-finals.
Group B:
Group B consists of India, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Netherlands. The South African team is at the top with 5 points. The team will advance to the semi-finals even if Pakistan and the Netherlands win one of the next two matches. The Indian team will face Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in the next two matches. A win for India is enough to qualify for the semi-finals.
It is considered that the semi-final chances of Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Netherlands are over. Perhaps if India and South Africa lose their next two matches and Pakistan win their next two matches, Pakistan is likely to go to the semi-finals.
But with India and South Africa in good form and with very little chance of losing the next two matches, Pakistan’s semi-final chances are considered over.
