Islamabad: An Indian woman has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court accusing her Pakistani husband of illegally keeping their children with him. The Lahore High Court on Friday heard the petition of an Indian woman seeking custody of her children. The Indian woman named Farzana told the court that her Pakistani husband has illegally kept her two minor sons with him. Farzana’s lawyer told the court that the petitioner married a man named Yusuf Ilahi Mirza from Lahore in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2015. The two had two sons, Ibrahim and Ismail, in 2016 and 2017.
According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, Farzana Begum appeared in Lahore High Court with her lawyer Bushra Qamar. The woman has told that when she came to Lahore with her husband in 2018, she came to know that her husband Mirza had already married three times and she was his fourth wife. There was a fight between the two over this, then Mirza beat up Farzana and threw her out of the house.

Farzana wants to stay in Pakistan

The Indian woman’s lawyer claimed that her husband Yusuf Mirza not only tortured her but also threw her out of the house. Mirza also forcibly took Farzana’s children away from her and kept them with him. During the hearing, Farzana told the court that she wants to live in Pakistan with her sons.

According to Dawn’s report, a government law officer told the court that Mirza had taken both the children to the United Arab Emirates. Mirza has a lot of travel between the two countries due to his business in the Gulf. After hearing all the arguments, Justice Amjad Rafiq asked the petitioner’s lawyer how the children could be brought back to Pakistan from the UAE. On this, the lawyer said that he would argue in this regard, which would give the court the right to extradite the children from another country. The court will hear the case again next week.
