The world’s leading cryptocurrency websites such as Binance, Kucoin, OKX have been blocked by the central government in India. While its apps were removed from the Apple Play Store, its website was shut down yesterday.
The Ministry of Finance has issued notices to websites including Binance, Cocaine, OKX, etc. for violating money laundering laws. Apart from the 3 websites mentioned above, Houbi, Kraken, Gate.io, Bittrex, Bitstamp, MEXC Global and Bitfinex were also issued notices on 28th December last year seeking explanation.
The websites have been accused of violating local tax laws and operating illegally without registration. Following this, the Union Finance Ministry directed the Union Ministry of Information Technology to block the websites. Following the Apple Play Store, its apps are said to be removed from the Android Play Store as well.
