JERUSALEM: India’s Harnas Sandhu has been crowned Miss Universe 2021. The 21-year-old Indian girl won the 70th Miss Universe pageant in Eilat, Israel. Sandhu is the third Indian to win the Vishwasundari title. This is the first time an Indian woman has won the title since Lara Dutta was crowned Miss Universe in 2000. Prior to this, Sushmita Sen won the Miss Universe title for India in 1994.

The Miss Universe pageant is coming to India after a gap of 21 years. Harnas Sandhu won the title, beating the beauties of Paraguay and South Africa.
Sandhu was crowned Miss Universe 2020 by Andrea Mesa from Mexico. The ceremony was televised live. Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay was the first runner – up and Lalela Swane of South Africa was the second runner – up.

Model and actress Sandhu Vishwasundari has embarked on her journey to Miss Universe India 2021. She is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Public Administration. She has previously won the Times Fresh Face 2017 and Femina Miss India Punjab 2019 titles. Sandhu has also acted in several Punjabi films. Sandhu hails from Chandigarh. Sandhu is passionate about yoga, dance, horseback riding and chess.
