India’s milk production will increase 3 times in the next 25 years, Amul Managing Director R.S. Sodhi said.

Regarding this, he said: It is expected that the country’s milk production will increase to 62.8 crore tonnes in the next 25 years. In that way, the production of milk will increase 3 times as at present. The average annual growth rate of milk production is 4.5 percent.

Last year 2021, the country’s milk production was 21 crore tonnes.

Its overall annual growth is expected to be 4.5 percent. If this trend continues, milk production will reach 62.8 crore tonnes in 25 years.

India’s share of global milk production now stands at 23 percent. This is projected to almost double to 45 percent in the next 25 years.

Demand for milk will also increase due to increasing population. The demand for milk will rise to 51.7 crore tonnes in the next 25 years. Export surplus will be 11.1 crore tonnes.

In 2021, the average daily intake per person was 428 grams. This will increase to 852 grams in the next 25 years.

India’s dairy sector has one of the best distribution structures in the world. The cost of transportation and packaging of milk is very low in India when compared to the global level, said R.S. Sodhi.
