Shani Bachar, the 31-year-old who was shot and killed in Raba

Shani Bachar (31) from Moshav Nativ Shaira was shot and killed on Route 4 near the intersection of the Regava complex by her ex-partner Tamir Jumaa, 36, from Kfar Sulam – just because she wanted to say goodbye to him. This is according to the indictment filed against him this morning (Wednesday) by the prosecutor’s office to the district court in Haifa.

According to the indictment, the two met about ten years ago while serving in the police and a relationship developed between them. Last June she informed him that she wanted to separate, but he refused to accept it. He harassed her, came to her home and work, sent her gifts and letters and even informed her that he would harm himself if she did not go back on her decision.

Bakr refused, and Jumaa decided to murder her and then shoot himself as well. On January 9, he came to the guard and waited for her to leave work and started following her. She noticed his car, called the police and reported that he was chasing her – and asked for intervention and assistance.

While she was talking to the police, she tried to escape from him, then he swerved his car, crashed into hers – and she was trapped in the driver’s seat. After the collision Jumaa got out of his vehicle carrying a gun he brought with him, ran towards her vehicle – and pulled out the gun and fired 5 shots at her at short range. Immediately after, he pressed the barrel of the gun to his chin and fired one shot.

In the incident, Bacher died on the spot. Jumaa was treated by paramedics who were called to the scene and was taken to the Galilee Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. The indictment charges the defendant with aggravated murder and weapons offenses.
