Two 14-year-old boys from Umm al-Fahm were recently indicted for attempting to murder an IDF soldier in Tel Aviv. The State Attorney’s Office submitted the indictment to the District Youth Court in Tel Aviv, charging the minors with a terrorist act of attempted murder. According to the indictment, the two conspired to commit an act of terrorism by way of murdering an IDF soldier with a knife and becoming “martyrs”.

The incident took place on November 2, when the two minors armed themselves with knives and traveled to Tel Aviv. They planned to carry out the stabbing attack at Terminal 2000 near the Central train station, where they walked back and forth on Arlozorov Street in search of an IDF soldier. Their suspicious behavior caught the attention of patrolling policemen, who apprehended them before they could carry out their plan.

The attorney’s office requested the arrest of the minors until the end of the legal proceedings, stating that despite their age, they showed courage and determination in trying to carry out their malicious plan. The prosecutor’s office emphasized the significance of their failed attempt, stating that it only failed by a miracle and thanks to the vigilance of the police officers on patrol.

The State of Israel is currently facing a difficult war, and the attempted attack is seen as part of the ongoing conflict with terrorist forces. The seriousness of the situation is underscored by the fact that these individuals were willing to carry out such an attack in a crowded area in the heart of Tel Aviv.

The indictment was submitted by Attorney Tamar Anis from the Tel Aviv District Attorney’s Office, and the case will now be processed by the District Youth Court. The attempted attack serves as a reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by the State of Israel in the midst of conflict with terrorist groups.
