One of them is establishing relations with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) by holding a meeting and discussion, The 17th Navy To Navy Talks (NTNT) 2024 at RAN Headquarters, Russel, Canberra, Australia, Wednesday (21/8).

This annual activity was led by the Assistant for Operations to the Chief of Naval Staff (Asops KSAL) Rear Admiral TNI Yayan Sofiyan accompanied by Paban V Sopsal and staff.

Next, the RAN delegation was led by Acting Deputy Chief of RAN CDRE Eric Young, staff officers from Training, Submarine, Hydrographic and RANC and Naval International Engagement (NIE) RAN.

In the meeting, the navies of the two countries also discussed cooperation in the field of operations and training such as Ex. KAKADU 2024, AUSINDO CORPAT 2024, 5th MNEK 2025, Latma Keris Woomera in Darwin, Banyuwangi and Banongan.

Then in the field of meetings, the two countries will hold the 18th NTNT in 2025 where the Indonesian Navy will host the Sister Academy Relationship AAL-RANC 24 activities, Trilateral Maritime Security Workshop (TMSW) 2025, Signing of the Submarine Abandonment Escape and Rescue (SAER) MOU and inviting AAL to attend the Leadership Forum 2024.

In addition, in the field of education, both parties agreed to exchange educational information reciprocally, RAN also offers the Warfare Officers Course in Australia and invites the Indonesian Navy to participate in the 2025/2026 Coordinator Rescue Course in Australia.

This meeting is certainly a manifestation of the role of the Indonesian Navy in the field of diplomacy and is in line with the priority program of the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL) Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali in improving the diplomacy of the Indonesian Navy in ensuring stability in the region.
