jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Indonesian Navy, in this case the Joint Task Force Team of the Banten Indonesian Navy Base (Lanal), succeeded in thwarting an attempt to smuggle illegal cigarettes at PT. ASDP Merak Port, Banten, Wednesday (28/8/2024).

The chronology of the incident began with the suspicions of the Task Force team when conducting an inspection of a Colt Diesel truck on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in the morning.

When the officer asked about the waybill and goods manifest, the driver was only able to show 1 waybill without a manifest of the goods being transported.

Based on these suspicions, the task force team then took the vehicle, cargo and three suspected perpetrators to the Banten Naval Base Headquarters to carry out further investigation.

After examining a white Colt Diesel wing box car with the alleged perpetrator with the initials PF (35 years old) as the driver from Tulungagung, East Java, along with two conductors with the initials AS (25 years old) from Magetan, East Java, and EP (44 years old) from Tulungagung, East Java.

After checking the three of them, it was found that the vehicle was carrying a load of 190 boxes of cigarettes, with details of 1 box containing 6 balls, 1 ball containing 10 slops, 1 slop containing 10 packs, and 1 pack containing 20 sticks. The total number of cigarettes carried was 2,280,000 sticks.

Furthermore, from the results of the investigation, 1 pack of cigarettes which should have used excise stamp 20, however only had 12 cigarettes listed.

Furthermore, the excise tape which should be SKM (machine-made kretek cigarettes) but instead shows the excise tape SKT (hand-rolled kretek cigarettes).

The Indonesian Navy, in this case the Banten Lanal Joint Task Force Team, successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle illegal cigarettes at PT. ASDP Merak Port, Banten.
