Indra has joined forces with Amey to work on the definition of an open digital signaling system that will allow the coexistence of all types of technologies. It will be a modular solution, capable of integrating with systems from other providers and with an approach that prioritizes collaboration, innovation and security. This will include digital interlocking, European Railway Control System (ETCS) technology, artificial intelligence and other capabilities to automate and improve the design, development and testing phases. All this, with the highest levels of security.
This technology “could guarantee the safety of the operation, by being responsible for continuously monitoring the speed of the trains, facilitating automatic braking in the event that the circulation does not adapt to the existing signaling conditions, and optimizing the distance between trains and, therefore, the capacity of the lines,” they indicate.
In addition, the development and use of technologies is planned to automate the design and verification testing of these solutions, and the possibility of incorporating artificial intelligence in the design, development and testing phases.
