“We cannot talk about improving processes, productivity, improving costs and quality without investing in human resources training and basic training,” said Mr. Benchaâboun, during a panel held as part of the 1st edition of the National Industry Day, organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.

In this wake, he explained that the investment can focus on the tool and the improvement of processes in the medium and long terms as well as on the intangible, particularly in research, training and the information system.

And he added that the formalization of processes is essential to achieve the required quality and conquer global markets.

For his part, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, focused on logistics efficiency as a lever for industrial competitiveness, citing the example of logistics infrastructures linked to the phosphate industry with the platforms of Jorf Lasfar, the new port of Safi as well as that of Laayoune.

Furthermore, Mr. Abdeljalil highlighted three major challenges currently to be addressed, namely energy efficiency and decarbonization, the digitalization of the economy as well as the resilience of supply chains in the face of crises and shocks.

In this context, he said, several actions will be carried out, including the continued development of infrastructure (ports, airports, railways, logistics platforms, etc.), support for private operators, particularly in terms of training, and support for the development of their information systems as well as the strengthening of public-private governance.

For his part, the President of the Moroccan Plastics Federation, Hicham El Haid, stressed the importance of logistics in promoting the competitiveness and sovereignty of Moroccan industry.

He also called, on this occasion, for shedding light on the means of financing and subsidies which would help actors wishing to move from wired energy to renewable energy.

The inaugural session of this Day, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), was marked by a Royal message, read by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour.

This event, which brings together ministries, relevant institutions, professional federations and private operators, will serve as a platform for discussion on the strategic development issues of the sector and the priorities of the new industrial strategy.

The National Industry Day, the next editions of which will be held in the regions in order to highlight local industrial potential and address specific associated issues, will be included in the overall calendar of economic events, as an annual reference meeting for Industry in Morocco.
