The General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) unanimously approved the location of the Voter Credential which should mark the instrument that will be used on the day of the Election Day of the local elections in 2025.
Next year, 7,432,680 voters will be eligible to vote. The objective will therefore be to integrate and install around 13,575 polling stations, with the participation of more than 81,450 citizens, who will deliver the ballots, receive, classify and count the votes of their neighbors.
The approved agreement establishes that in the ordinary elections of the FOR 2024-2025 in the entities of Durango y Veracruz, to be celebrated on Sunday, June 1, 2025as well as extraordinary elections that may be held, the marking of the Voting Credential is carried out with the number “25” (twenty-five), using the credential marker.

In ordinary session, the counselor Carla Humphrey Jordanpresident of the Federal Voter Registration Commissionexplained that the INE, Based on the powers conferred by law, it has the authority to organize federal electoral processes and collaborate with local processes in aspects related to the use of the Photo Voter Credential during election days.
With this decision, he added, “we will have to guarantee that in these processes, citizens will have the certainty that their vote will be received, counted, and that Mexican citizens will cast their vote only once for the election that corresponds to them.”
At another point in the session, the plenary unanimously approved that the Electoral Geographic Framework which will be used in the 2025 elections, as well as the extraordinary electoral processes that, where appropriate, take place in Durango and Veracruz, will be integrated by the territorial areas of the entity, local electoral district, municipality and electoral section.
At this point, Councillor Carla Humphrey stressed that the Executive Directorate of the Federal Registry of Votersthe decentralized bodies of the INE, as well as the national, district and local monitoring commissions, have carried out a series of actions to keep the geographic framework up to date, so that said tool has the highest degree of certainty and reliability.
