The National Electoral Institute (INE) assured that there is certainty regarding the operation of the Preliminary Electoral Results Program (PREP) Yet the publication of these results the same night of Electoral journeyas well as during the 24 hours of its operation, thanks to the support of the specialists who make up the Technical Advisory Committee of the Preliminary Electoral Results Program (Cotaprep).
On the electronic page dedicated to the program, as well as in the information replicated by authorized disseminators, the PREP will reflect the information recorded by polling station officials in the scrutiny and counting records.

In this way, the INE reported that it will publish the information with the preliminary electoral results collected from 8:00 p.m. on June 2, 2024 and until 8:00 p.m. on June 3, which will contribute to informing citizens. , political parties and electoral authorities with opportunity.
The above was highlighted in the press conference held at the INE headquarters, headed by the Presidential Counselor, Guadalupe Taddei Zavala, who was accompanied by Counselor Jaime Rivera Velázquez and Counselor Claudia Zavala Pérez, in addition to the Office Manager of the Secretariat Executive, Claudia Edith Suárez Ojeda.

At this event, it was explained that, as a reliable and timely information tool, the PREP allows for capturing the data that arises from the scrutiny and counting records, with the aggregate voting in each of the more than 170 thousand planned polling stations and, with it, , give maximum publicity through institutional dissemination channels and media from the same night of Election Day.
In addition, the level of maturity of the PREP technological systems was highlighted, as well as the operational capacity of the more than 57 thousand people involved in its operation, ranging from the Electoral Assistant Trainers (CAE), to the personnel of coordination, collection, capture and verification of the program.
The Presidential Counselor of the INE established that “the PREP is an essential tool to guarantee the transparency and legitimacy of the elections. On this occasion, its role will be crucial in the consolidation of our democracy by offering certainty and transparency in the electoral process.”
Taddei Zavala reported that the tests carried out on the program recently have had positive results in its various components. He added that with these tests “it was proven that the operation of the different modules that make up the PREP computer system is satisfactory and, although there are some technical aspects that will be improved, we can see that we are on the right track.”
For her part, the Dispatch Manager of the Executive Secretariat of the INE mentioned that last Sunday’s general exercise concluded with the publication of 75% of the minutes expected on the day of Election Day.
Likewise, the organization of the drills was announced, scheduled for May 12, 19 and 26, 2024, whose central objective is to test the set of systems and the entire operation of the PREP, so that vulnerabilities, risks are identified. and opportunities and are resolved before June 2.
In turn, the members of Cotaprep agreed that the sum of internal tests and simulations, as well as the work carried out by the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) as audit entity and the technical team of the Technical Services Unit of Informatics (UTSI), allow us to trust that the PREP will be in a position to offer preliminary results on June 2.
The Institute guaranteed that Mexicans will have timely and accurate information about the preliminary electoral results before the district counts, scheduled to be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

Dr. Patricia Rayón recalled that the use of the PREP Casilla application and a capture device allows for more controlled lighting and, therefore, better images.
Finally, members of Cotaprep mentioned that the Committee itself recommended to the INE, at the time and unanimously, the incorporation of automated capture to the PREP even if it were in a pilot test, considering that it is a mature technology. In this way, the experience of incorporating this type of technological tools into the preliminary electoral results would be taken advantage of.
“The automated capture pilot is a management decision of the Institute, Cotaprep simply suggests and recommends and Cotaprep unanimously recommended that it was a technology that was ready to use and that the Institute decided when it was used,” said the teacher. Sofía Ramírez Aguilar.
The INE reported on the technical procedures carried out towards the PREP simulations and the election itself on June 2, with the support of the members of Cotaprep, who expressed their confidence that by following these processes and considering the lessons learned from past exercises contributes to providing certainty in the operation of the system and providing reliable information.
