Inefficient Glimt messed it up against Solbakken’s new club

Bodø/Glimt – Sparta Prague 0-2 (0-1)

Bodø/Glimt are in the process of making the final preparations before they will face Ajax in the Conference League.

On Monday, they met the Czech club Sparta Praha. Despite the fact that the yellow jerseys were completely on par with the Czech club in the field game, a sometimes violent waste of chances and a mess in the defense ensured that it ended in defeat.

The reigning Norwegian league champions will meet Malmö on February 8 in the dress rehearsal before heading to Amsterdam the following week.

Missed chances

Bodø/Glimt took hold of the game from the start and constantly got good scoring chances.

The Sparta Prague team, which also had Markus Solbakken in the starting eleven, on the other hand, managed to withstand fierce pressure from the yellow jerseys.

In addition, they should get a score out of nowhere.

After just over half an hour, the Czechs won the ball high up the pitch, before rolling beautifully up the left. Lukas Sadilek was waiting at the back of the field, who checked in the lead goal against the run of play.

Buzzed it up

Glimt continued to create chances towards the break, but were unable to pry into the equaliser.

Kjetil Knutsen changed large parts of the team during the break, and after the rest, the match continued in the same vein.

It was Glimt who pressed on for the next score, but once again they were to be severely punished.

This time they could primarily blame themselves.

Bodø/Glimt apparently had control of a long backroom ball, but when Brice Wembangomo tried to play the ball back to goalkeeper Isak Sjong, Glimt’s last chance had already left the line.

Thus it ended instead in a pass to Victor Olatunji, who could easily roll in Sparta Praha’s second goal into the empty cage.

The Czech club was close to its third after another huge blip in Glimt’s rear ranks. Five minutes before the end, Sjong served a Sparta Praha attacker in his own 16-metre area, but cleaned up with a good save.

This was Glimt’s third training match in the run-up. In the first training match, they were smashed 0-6 by RB Salzburg, before they hit back with a 3-2 victory over Hammarby.
