According to Yevgeny Timakov, an infectious disease specialist and vaccinologist, the risk of complications from coronavirus infection increases significantly in the fall.
The jump in the incidence of COVID-19 in Russian regions coincided with the traditional autumn increase in the number of patients with colds.
– Now, in addition to coronavirus, patients have a joint course of several infectious processes, – Sputnik radio quotes Timakov.
This situation is especially dangerous for people who have not been vaccinated in advance. The infectious disease specialist emphasized that the risks persist even for people who have previously been ill. In conditions of rising incidence there is a risk of getting too much “dose” of the pathogen.
In the Volgograd region, almost 95 thousand cases of coronavirus infection have been registered since the beginning of the pandemic. The vaccination campaign is actively continuing in the region: now there are 62 stationary vaccination stations, 10 mobile stations and 194 mobile teams.
