Inflation drops to 2.2% in the Eurozone in August – Italy-World

(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, AUGUST 30 – Inflation fell to 2.2% in the Eurozone in August, from 2.6% in July, according to Eurostat’s flash estimate. Among the main components, services (4.2%, from 4% in July) and food, alcohol and tobacco products (2.4%, from 2.3%) rose. Non-energy industrial goods (0.4%, from 0.7%) and especially energy (-3%, from 1.2% in July) fell. Eurostat’s estimate for Italy is for inflation to fall to 1.3% (from 1.6%). Belgium was at its highest (4.5%, from 5.4%), while Lithuania was at its lowest (0.7% from 1.1%). As for unemployment, in July in the Eurozone it was 6.4%, down from 6.5% in June. In the EU it remained stable at 6%, again according to Eurostat. In Italy, unemployment fell to 6.5% from 6.9% the previous month. The lowest was the Czech Republic (2.7%), the highest was Spain (11.5%). Among the large countries, Germany is at 3.4%, France at 7.5%. Youth unemployment (under 25) fell to 14.5% in the EU (from 14.6% in June) and to 14.2% in the eurozone (from 14.4). In Italy, it fell to 20.8% (from 21.5%). (ANSA).
