Inflation, energy: French industry resists better than expected

Zero percent. A little more or a little less. Economists do not agree on the evolution of French economic activity at the end of 2022 and at the start of this new year. But whatever it is, times have become more difficult for the French economy which is suffering the effects of an unprecedented energy crisis and the persistence of inflation.

The PMI index, published on Monday by S&P Global Market Intelligence and based on surveys of 400 purchasing managers, indicates a continued contraction in production and new orders in the French manufacturing sector in December for the seventh months in a row.
