Consumer inflation in Germany in November accelerated to 5.2% – such preliminary data was published by the Federal Statistical Office of Germany on Monday. This is a record annual inflation since 1992, when prices rose by 5.8%. Compared to October, prices increased by 0.2%.
This inflation did not come as a surprise – earlier it was reported that producer prices in Germany rose by 18.4% in October, which turned out to be the most significant increase since 1951. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected inflation to exceed 5% in November. Energy prices rose the most – by 22% compared to November 2020. Prices for goods in general increased by 7.9%, for food – by 4.5%, for services – by 2.8%.
Prices are breaking multi-year records around the world. So, in early November it was reported that inflation in the United States accelerated to a maximum in 30 years – the consumer price index rose by 6.2%. Last week, the Russian Ministry of Economy estimated the annual inflation rate at 8.05%.
