Inflation in Mexico continues to decline and stands at 4.99%

Good news for the Mexican economy, after several months of growth and the increase in prices of important products, inflation in our country showed a new slowdown during the month of August to reach the annual rate at 4.99 percent.

According to the latest report of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI)The annual rate of this indicator was much lower compared to that of July, where it stood at 5.57 percent annually, representing a significant decline after several months of growth.

In addition to this, the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) showed an increase of 0.01 percent compared to the previous month. During this same month, but in 2023, the monthly inflation was 0.55% and the annual inflation was 4.64 percent.

The underlying price index increased by 0.22% At a monthly rate and 4.00% at an annual rate, the non-core price index registered a monthly fall of 0.70% and an annual rise of 8.03%. Within the core index, at a monthly rate, merchandise prices rose 0.18% and services prices rose 0.27%.

Regarding the products that were most affected by inflation during the month of August, Inegi detailed that they were lemon, pineapple, grape, peach, potato, melonegg and pork.

While the products that had a drop in their prices were chayote, green beans, serrano peppers, green tomatoes, air transporttomato and guava.
