For the fourth consecutive month and being close to reaching 5 percentinflation in Mexico had a new upturn, reaching a 4.98 percent of its annual ratethis according to the most recent report of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
Through a statement, the autonomous body detailed that in June 2024 the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) showed an increase of 0.38% compared to the previous month. Compared to the same period in 2023, monthly inflation was 0.10% and annual inflation was 5.06%.
He also reported that the Core price index increased 0.22% on a monthly basis and 4.13% at an annual rate, and the non-core price index registered a monthly increase of 0.87% and an annual increase of 7.67%.

Due to this new spike in inflation in our country, the prices of some products have become more expensive, in addition to the fact that this index is still outside the objectives established by the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) which is around three percent.
Foods like Fruits and vegetables rose in price by 19.73% compared to the previous year, while livestock products were up 2.89 percent. As for energy and government-authorized tariffs, the inflation reported was 5.28 percent.
Chayote, Orange, some vegetables and legumes, avocado, banana and lettuce were the products that had the greatest price increases due to this increase in inflation in our country.
