A new influencer in the sights of the authorities. This Friday, the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF) pinned former reality TV candidate Laura Marra, in a press release published on its website and relayed on social networks.

Followed by more than 250,000 subscribers on her Instagram account @itslauramarra, the 28-year-old young woman was the subject of an investigation “by the agents of Competition, consumption and the repression of fraud (CCRF) of the Departmental Directorate Protection of Populations (DDPP) of the Alpes-Maritimes”, says the DGCCRF.

“The investigation revealed that Ms. Laura Marra was paid by commercial partners to promote their products or services in her publications”, writes the repression of fraud. A very common practice among influencers. But since May and a law passed to regulate their profession, content creators are required to add the words “advertising” or “commercial collaboration” on this type of publication.

Many influencers already pinned

However, it turns out that, according to the investigation of the DGCCRF, Laura Marra would not have respected this new rule in force. “The publications in question did not mention their commercial intention. However, any publication under a paid commercial partnership (post-sponsored by a brand) must make it possible to identify its advertising character and the person on whose behalf it is carried out, ”underlines the administration in its press release.

The former candidate of the reality show “Les Marseillais” must now “comply with this obligation”, indicates the repression of fraud. Since the entry into force of the new law governing the profession of influencer, many content creators have been singled out by the DGCCRF.
