IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said that the International Monetary Fund expects to conclude the talks with Sri Lanka as soon as possible.
He said this while addressing an event in Tokyo.

He continued, “His fund is deeply concerned about the well-being of people in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is facing severe shortages of fuel, food and other essential commodities.
Frustrated citizens have turned their anger on the government after dimming the outlook for debt restructuring, prompting incumbent President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to exile and resign.
I am confident that we will be able to quickly conclude the program negotiations based on the excellent technical work we have already done.
Ranil Wickremesinghe is no stranger to the International Monetary Fund, having been the Finance Minister and six-time Prime Minister, he has also been involved in negotiations with us. But he remains deeply unpopular with the people.
“The IMF will work with any Sri Lankan administration until there is a leader with longevity to lead Sri Lanka and a leader who has the support of the people,” he said.
