Infotainment im Seat Tarraco

by time news

AOn request, it is also available as a seven-seater for the large family. The Tarraco from Seat has been at the start since 2018, and now it is approaching with a modernized line. He brings a redesigned grille and a modified dashboard. All younger Tarracos get fresh infotainment, which we took a closer look at in the Xperience model version.

Let’s start with the digital cockpit in front of the steering wheel. It has a diagonal of 10.25 inches, is part of the standard equipment and shows the speedometer, the rev counter and, if required, the navigation map with 1280 × 480 pixels. The conventional instruments can be pushed aside at the push of a button so that the map display dominates. It is operated with physical steering wheel buttons and two rotary wheels from the old analog days.

The menu system relies on redundancy

The firmly locked on-board monitor, however, relies solely on operation with the finger. Its diagonal is only 9.2 inches, and the amazing size in the press photos is due to the very wide mourning borders around the display area. As in the parent company Volkswagen, there are no buttons. There are five hard-wired touch buttons to the left of the display, for example to adjust the volume. For everything else, dexterous actions are called for. The menu system relies on redundancy. There are small buttons at the bottom edge of the display as well as a main menu, either with large or small tiles in the design of a modern Android smartphone.

It is easy to use, the range of functions is limited, and more speed would have been appreciated when processing user inputs in the submenus. It jerks again and again. The navigation brings online services and voice control and costs an additional 950 euros. Without this package, the monitor is even smaller and then, in addition to the radio reception, only has the Bluetooth hands-free operation for the mobile phone installed. The speech recognition works properly, but is far from modern systems, such as those from Mercedes-Benz. It responds to the command word “Hola, Hola”, but takes a long time after the system has started up before it actually starts working.

The settings for privacy are exemplary

Thanks to the built-in SIM card, real-time traffic information comes into the vehicle. We didn’t have the corresponding data package, so we can’t say anything about their quality. With the smartphone app, vehicle information can be accessed remotely. The settings for privacy are exemplary. You can specify which data is sent to the manufacturer for each individual trip. The corresponding menu item is clearly visible and in no way hidden as in other systems.

Another control element, which relies solely on touch control, is used to set the temperature and air conditioning. It is located below the center console air vents and allows the seat heating, ventilation and temperature to be adjusted. The latter is regulated with the touch sliders, as known from the Golf 8. While they are not illuminated in the Golf, at least the light comes on in the Seat Tarraco. Unfortunately, a head-up display is not available for the beautiful family SUV.
