Ingenious idea !: Stores are fighting so cleverly in the Ösi lockdown | Regional

by time news

Salzburg – The Ösi lockdown (from Monday in all of Austria for ten days) hits brick-and-mortar retail hard: The pre-Christmas business and Black Friday are canceled!

Shopkeepers are pissed off. “The lockdown came much too late, the government missed the warning signs. Christmas time is starting right now, it’s bitter. The Christmas business is extremely important to us, ”complains Margit Höhenberger (46), branch manager of the Salzburg fashion store“ Gehmacher ”.

The shop will be closed from Monday, but the employees are still there. “Our customers can call us via video via WhatsApp and FaceTime and we will show the clothes and try on parts for our customers,” says Höhenberger to BILD.

We won’t let Lockdown get us down!

The stand operators at the Salzburg Christmas market do not have this chance. The Christmas market only opened on Thursday – despite strict rules (admission controls, 2G) everything has been closed again since Monday. At least for ten days.

The tough lockdown is particularly bitter for food stalls. Brigitte Koberger (55), employee at “Falkensteininger Süßwaren” says: “We have already ordered the fruit for the chocolate-fruit skewers, now we have to throw away a lot. It is questionable whether we would have made the booth at all if we had known about the lockdown beforehand. There is a lot of organization for structure and personnel. “
