Ingeteam will expand its plant located in Milwaukee (United States), until now dedicated to the manufacture of wind and solar components, to manufacture electric vehicle chargers for the North American market, thus consolidating its internationalization, as reported by the company yesterday.

Specifically, the group will carry out an expansion of 13,000 square meters to meet the strong demand that this type of product will have in the coming years in the US market, which has amounted to a national network of 500,000 charging points. The Joe Biden Administration announced that it will carry out a major deployment of electric vehicle chargers along its highways.

With this expansion of the plant, the new Ingeteam electric vehicle charger production lines in the United States will have a production capacity of more than 13,000 units per year. These are chargers from 7.5 kilowatts (kW) to 420 kW, which will meet the high quality standards and requirements set by Buy America of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Manufacturing is expected to start in the second half of this year.

The executive vice president of Ingeteam EV Chargers USA, Jesús Rodríguez, pointed out that the expansion of the plant in the United States responds to its high technological capacity and the “commitment to contribute to accelerating the construction of the electric vehicle charging network on North American highways ».

Since the opening of Ingeteam’s Milwaukee plant in 2010, the company has manufactured more than 3,000 wind turbines and supplied 2.5 gigawatts (GW) of solar inverters and energy storage to the US market.
