Kabaddi is the national game of Bangladesh. In order to spread the game further, initiatives have been taken to include it in school level sports. Not only kabaddi but also chess.

Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hasan MP said this in a meeting with Kabaddi and Chess Federation officials at the Secretariat on Thursday (July 4) afternoon. The Kabaddi Federation delegation was led by Federation President and Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

In the meeting, the minister said, ‘Kabaddi and chess are two very promising games of Bangladesh. The government has taken various steps to promote the two sports. I have spoken to the Minister of Education. I have requested to take steps to include kabaddi and chess in all sports competitions in every school in the country.’

Papon assured all kinds of cooperation from his own ministry, ‘The Ministry of Youth and Sports will provide all kinds of cooperation in organizing these sports competitions. We want to spread both games across the country. If the sport can be spread at the grass root level of the country, then good players will be produced at the national level as well.’

The minister also said, ‘those sports federations which are doing well in the national and international arena, will be given priority assistance from the ministry to achieve better results.’
