Injured Patriots Defensive Back Isaiah Bolden Released from Hospital Following Scary Injury in Preseason Game Against Packers

BOSTON – New England Patriots defensive back Isaiah Bolden has been released from a Green Bay hospital after sustaining a frightening injury during Saturday night’s preseason game against the Packers. Bolden was held for overnight observations at Aurora Bay Medical Center in Green Bay, according to a Patriots spokesman.

The incident has prompted the Patriots to cancel their upcoming joint practices with the Tennessee Titans, which were scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Instead, the team will train in Foxboro and fly to Nashville on Thursday for their preseason finale a day later.

On Sunday, Bolden took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his gratitude for the support he has received. “Appreciate the prayers more excited to be back with the guys,” he tweeted.

Bolden suffered the injury with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game. After being taken off the field on a stretcher, play was suspended. He will travel back to Foxboro with the Patriots on Sunday.

“We thank the medical staff at Aurora Bay Medical Center for their overnight evaluations, as well as the Patriots and Packers medical staffs for their immediate on-field response and care in transporting Isaiah to a nearby hospital,” the team stated.

Germaine Wiggins, a former Patriot and Super Bowl champion who is now the head coach at Brockton High School, commented on the incident, emphasizing the importance of player safety. “The thing I pray before every game is let everybody come on the field and leave the field the way that they came,” Wiggins said. He also praised the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) for their efforts to limit full contact during high school football practices.

The Patriots’ decision to cancel their joint practices serves as a reminder of the ongoing commitment to player safety in the NFL and the importance of taking necessary precautions to prevent injuries on the field. Bolden’s release from the hospital is a positive development, and the team will continue to monitor his progress as he recovers.
