The objective is to develop a diagnosis of the problems that youth have today in Maule and generate actions that provide solutions to these conflicts. The University of Talca, Santo Tomás, Autonomous of Chile, participated in this first meeting, as well as the Technical Training Centers; AIPE and San Agustin. Topics related to entrepreneurship, mental health and volunteer actions were addressed.

The National Youth Institute (INJUV) held the first round table with Maule higher education institutions. The objective of this instance is to carry out a diagnosis of the problems and needs that youth live in the region today, in order to develop an effective work plan, focused on resolving all conflicts.

Among the topics that came up in this first diagnosis are mental health, entrepreneurship and volunteer actions. These problems are focused on the programmatic axes of the INJUV, for which it is expected to develop various actions during 2023, which have a reach of more than 3 thousand young people.

The regional director of INJUV, María Belén Aguilera, highlighted this valuable instance of work. “We are very happy with the reception we received from higher education centers, since for us they are strategic allies in our work with youth. During the day we were able to touch on various topics and make a diagnosis that will allow us to better guide our offer for youth, on issues as relevant as mental health, social participation and entrepreneurship. This work table will continue to function throughout the year, in order to better coordinate the various actions committed and project the work for 2024”.

For her part, the Social Development and Family Seremi, Sandra Lastra, highlighted the linking work that is being done with the institutions from the INJUV. «As a government, and following the mandate of our president Gabriel Boric, we are working together with all political and public actors, and this coordination with higher education institutions is a very relevant job for the Ministry of Social Development and Family, that, through the National Youth Institute, it will be able to get closer to the problems of adolescents and young people in the Maule region.

Meanwhile, the DAE chief of AIEP Talca, Carolina Pardo, thanked this profitable instance of work. “It is important that higher education institutions work together, since student problems are transversal, regardless of whether it is CFT, IP or university; for example, mental health is the main concern and priority, so doing a survey and sharing experiences with the DAEs of the other institutions is an excellent initiative of INJUV. The joint work that we carry out is essential for future professionals in the Maule region”.

The University of Talca, Santo Tomás and Autónoma de Chile participated in this first meeting, as well as the AIPE and San Agustín technical training centers.
