Vienna: Terrorist Planned Mass Attack at Taylor Swift Concert
In his first interrogation, a terror fanatic in Vienna proudly confessed to his plans to massacre fans of American pop star Taylor Swift, swearing allegiance to the Islamic State. He boasted, “I wanted to kill as many innocent people as possible!”
The suspect, identified as Beran A., attempted to create an explosive device known as the “Mother of Satan” using chemicals stolen from his former employer. The materials were discovered by police in the suspect’s refrigerator. Additionally, Beran A. had a 12-story fuse and various knives and machetes in his possession.
During the attack, the suspect planned to use the explosives in conjunction with his accomplice, a scaffolding worker, to create panic. He then intended to drive his VW Beetle into the fleeing crowd and use his knives to harm others. His ultimate goal was to be martyred by police gunfire.
Despite his initial confession, the suspect later changed his tune and claimed he never planned the attack. His lawyer stated that the bomb found in his refrigerator was simply “something he never wanted to use.”
Beran A., who is unemployed and receiving social assistance, claimed he became involved with ISIS due to feelings of inadequacy and a desire to gain knowledge. He watched the terrorist organization’s propaganda videos and swore an oath of allegiance.
The suspect denies involving his friends in the alleged attack, despite strong evidence suggesting their involvement. He faces up to 20 years in prison for his crimes.
